Comics

With a few notable exceptions like ‘Peanuts’ and ‘The Far Side’, daily comic strips are some of the least funny things (which are attempting to be funny) to have ever been produced throughout all of human history. I think the medium itself is flawed. Single panel comics are not difficult to make funny, but 3, 4 or 5 panels has an inherently unfunny rhythm. Even if the first two or three panels are funny, the last one usually ruins it by making the joke too unsubtle.

Inspired by this, it occurred to me that I could improve upon comic strips by re-writing them. The threshold for improvement is incredibly low since almost any change I make will be funnier than  the original.

I will gradually be re-writing one day of comics from the Seattle Times (Mon April 18th 2011) and posting them on this page. I will try and make the updates occur regularly, but am fairly confident they will be irregular.

Here is the original. Be prepared to not laugh or enjoy yourself in any way while reading it.

(I apologize for the difficult to read text. Next time it will be better)

Here is the original. The ‘Peanuts’ strip is pretty funny but everything else is the worst!
